About the staves

The Elder Futhark is the oldest runic alphabet, twenty-four staves named for its first six letters and grouped into three families of eight, the aettir, each later linked with a god: Freyr, Hagal and Tyr. The meanings here are the lodge's working glosses, drawn from the old rune poems and long use, not the last word. A dispatch shows up under a stave when it is tagged with that stave's name.
